What "donation" means here
When you donate a device to Orbitico, you are giving it to us with no expectation of payment, in order for us to assess it for reuse, refurbishment, donation to a community partner, parts recovery, or responsible recycling — whichever is genuinely appropriate for that device.
Preliminary vs. final eligibility
Any eligibility result you see on our donation form — including for prepaid shipping — is preliminary. It is based only on what you've told us. We confirm final eligibility and acceptance after receiving and assessing the physical device.
Ownership
By shipping or dropping off a device, you confirm that you are the owner (or are authorized to donate it on the owner's behalf), and that ownership transfers to Orbitico upon receipt.
Data on donated devices
We apply a documented data-sanitization process to every device before it is reused, resold or recycled, as described on our data security page. We recommend backing up and signing out of accounts before donating, but sanitization does not depend on you having done so.
No tax receipts
Orbitico is a for-profit business, not a registered charity. We are not able to issue charitable tax receipts for donated devices.
Devices we cannot accept
Some devices may not be accepted, in which case we will do our best to direct you toward an appropriate local recycling option rather than accepting an item we cannot responsibly process.
